Our Cultivars
Biologic and agronomic characteristics of olive trees cultivars
The biologic and agronomic characteristics of olive tree CULTIVARS illustrated in this catalogue have been of course listed in a simple and concise form; at the same time we have tried to summarize a series of information necessary to identify the variety standard and to better help farmers in their technical choices.
When the farmer starts the setting up, all these pieces of information will be useful to obtain the best efficiency and the best production quality.
We would like to point out that, like for every cultivar, the information given cannot be considered absolute, especially with regard to fruit dimensions and trees productivity. Everybody knows that these parameters, combined with the blooming season and the olive maturation, are affected by important environment-related facts and by the agronomic techniques applied to the setting up.
Also the picking period is affected by environmental factors, but it often depends by the commercial destination we want to give to the product. For example, some cultivars can be intended for direct consumption (like green or black olives), some others can be used to become oil.
Among the agronomic features, the resistance of the several cultivars to the most common plant diseases that attack the olive trees, the adaptability to different environments, the need to have suitable pollinators, and the production specialty.
